Keep General Iron Out!
Who Is General Iron?
General Iron is a metal shredding facility currently located in the Lincoln Park neighborhood in Chicago. After years of complaints from community members around safety hazards and air quality, the facility was closed and is in the process of registering for permits to relocate to Chicago's Southeast Side.
What's the issue?
General Iron is planning on moving their facility to the Southeast Side of Chicago, just 500 yards away from Washington High School and Elementary School. The surrounding neighborhoods consist predominately of Latinx and Black communities. As faith leaders, we believe that EVERYONE deserves the right to breathe clean air. If General Iron isn't good for upper-class, white communities, then we don't think it's good for working class Latinx and Black communities either.
