Action of the Week: 1/30/24

The Faith in Place Action Fund is excited to introduce the Action of the Week campaign! Each week, our Policy Team is bringing you a quick 2-minute action that will make a BIG impact on our policy goals.

Visit this page each week to stay updated and take action. Be sure you're also signed up to recieve our Action of the Week emails here.

Your small actions add up to create a powerful force for a better future. Let's make a difference together!

Illinois Action

Burning fossil fuels like gas to heat and fuel our homes is expensive, outdated, and has been linked to elevated rates of childhood asthma and cancer among residents. The transition to more affordable, clean power is an opportunity for progress toward a healthier, more equitable, and sustainable future for all Illinoisans.

Take two minutes today to urge your elected officials to support a managed transition away from dirty, expensive fossil fuels to more affordable, sustainable, and clean heat by submitting this form!

If you're a Chicago resident, you may have heard that Mayor Brandon Johnson introduced the Clean & Affordable Buildings Ordinance (CABO) in the Chicago City Council last week, marking a crucial moment in the city's commitment to reduce the financial burden of gas on consumers, safeguard community health, and combat climate change.

While this announcement was a major win, fossil-fuel backed alderpersons are now using parliamentary tricks to slow down the process. Take action today and ask your alderperson to support an equitable and affordable clean buildings ordinance by signing this form

Indiana Action

Are you ready for Indiana's 2024 Renewable Energy Day (RED) on Feb. 13? Join this annual day of action at the Indiana Statehouse to advocate for a clean energy future! Be sure to also RSVP for the RED Training Webinar on Feb. 6 to enhance your skills for effective engagement with legislators.

Free bus transportation from Evansville, Bloomington, Merrillville and Lafayette, IN has been arranged, and a carpool option is available for participants coming from Fort Wayne and Warren, IN. Learn more about how to reserve a seat towards the bottom of the RED Registration Page.

Wisconsin Action

Assembly Joint Resolution 6 (AJR 6) poses a threat to Wisconsin's ability to secure vital federal funds, including those earmarked for clean energy initiatives, which are crucial for building resilience against climate change and fostering a more equitable clean economy.

Faith in Place Action Fund strongly opposes AJR 6 and urges state legislators to vote against it. Take two minutes today to ask your legislators to oppose the resolution and safeguard critical funding for Wisconsin communities by submitting this form.
