Goals for Illinois
In 2021, Governor Pritzker signed the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act, one of the most progressive pieces of climate legislation in the country, into law. Today, we are continuing the work of passing and then implementing not only CEJA, but other policies that will help build just, resilient and thriving communities throughout our state. We're especially focused on:
-
Ratepayer justice, ensuring that communities traditionally subject to disproportionate energy burdens and utility shut-offs have a real voice in how utility costs and rates are set, especially in communities where large-scale utility customers (like data centers) are present.
-
Equitable building electrification that lowers energy bills and improves indoor air quality for low- and moderate-income households, Houses of Worship, and small businesses.
-
Partnering with communities to build utility- and community-scale clean energy projects with strong community benefits, including local jobs, direct savings, and a real say in how projects are sited.
